What is Stamping ?

Stamping is a forming and processing method, which place external force to sheets, strips, pipes and profiles by press machine and stamping mould to make plastic deformation or separation to get the specific shape and size.

Metal Stamping Process

The process of metal stamping will involve many steps, based on the design is complex or simple. Even though some parts are seem fairly simple, they are also need multiple steps during the production process.

The following are some common steps for stamping process:

Punching: The process is to separate metal sheet/coil (including punching, blanking, trimming, sectioning, etc.).

Bending: Bending the sheet into a certain angle and shape along the bending line.

Drawing: Turn the flat sheet into various open hollow parts, or make further changes for the shape and size of the hollow parts.

Forming: The process is to transform the flat metal into another shape by applying force (including flanging, bulging, leveling, and shaping, etc.).

Main Advantages of Stamping

* High material utilization

The leftover material can also be fully utilized.

* High accuracy:

The stamped parts generally do not need to be machined, and have high accuracy

* Good interchangeability

Stamping processing stability is better, the same batch of stamping parts can be used interchangeably without affecting assembly and product performance.

* Easy operation and High productivity

The stamping process is suitable for the mass production, which is easy to realize mechanization and automation, and has high productivity

* Low cost

The cost of stamping parts is low.
